Daniel Coury, MD discusses his research related to the monitoring of antipsychotic medications in children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The presentation includes a discussion on the importance of monitoring antipsychotic medications and background information on the quality improvement efforts of AIR-P Network sites surrounding the monitoring of antipsychotic medications. Dr. Coury is a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Psychiatry at Ohio State University and Nationwide Children's Hospital, in Ohio. Dr. Coury also serves as the ATN’s Medical Director.
Micah Mazurek, PhD discusses three common co-occurring health problems in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD): sleep problems, sensory over-responsivity, and anxiety. She describes the theoretical and empirical basis for a recent project examining the relations among these three conditions in children enrolled in the AS ATN clinical registry. Dr. Mazurek is a clinical child psychologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of ASD. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Psychology at the University of Missouri and at the Thompson Center for Autism & Neurodevelopmental Disorders. She also serves as Co-Chair of the AS-ATN Behavior Science Committee, and serves on the AS-ATN Executive Steering Committee.
